Oldbury-based Glass Express Midlands has announced plans to expand the business after purchasing rented premises. According to directors at the glass merchant, which employs 25 people, the company was concerned about the business“ ability to grow from short-term leasehold premises on the Anglo African Industrial Estate. Thanks to a financial package created by NatWest Commercial Banking, with additional support from Lombard, the company has now purchased the premises together with two adjoining buildings totalling more than 30,000 sq.ft. With the additional unit space, Glass Express is developing a new blind system for usage in double-glazed window units, for which the company has already received several orders, to go into production at the end of March. Salinder Singh, managing director of Glass Express Midlands, said: At Glass Express Midlands we pride ourselves on being able to manufacture and supply quality flat glass for a wide range of businesses and institutions. Our only limitation has come from the size of our premises and the short-term lease. It became essential for us to invest in the company and purchase our current premises as well as the two adjoining buildings for the benefit of the business, our staff and our customers.
