German glass container maker Gerresheimer Glas AG said it was calling off its 1999 earnings news conference, which was to be held on May 24. The company said it would inform shareholders of its earnings in its annual report instead. Gerresheimer did not say why it was cancelling the results conference. Gerresheimer parent Viag AG is selling its 73% stake in the glass maker to investment group Investcorp and Chase Capital Partners for Euros 215.3 million (US$ 192.6 million) as part of its disposal of non-core units as it prepares to merge with Veba AG . The sale, which still requires regulatory approval, is scheduled to be completed next month.
