Romanian flat and auto glass manufacturer Gerom (Buzau, southeast Romania) is aiming to become a supplier for the Renault Logan and plans to complete the upgrade of its window production units by mid-2005, it was reported on 26 April 2005. The company will invest almost EUR 4 million to upgrade its production units. The investment programme will be paid for out of the company“s own funds as well as loans. Gerom has lately had to face the consequences of the Dacia Break and Berlina being taken out of production, as it was the sole supplier of car windows for Automobile Dacia of Pitesti. In addition, the company had to cut its prices in euros by 2-5%. Gerom SA began operation in 1969 and became the biggest producer of ornamental and processed windows in Romania. In 2002 the company was privatised and Iamsat Prodconstruct, owned by businessman Catalin Bulf of Pitesti, is the controlling shareholder.
