George Little Management (GLM) has announced a one-time change in date pattern for the New York International Gift Fair during the August 2000 market. All 10 divisions of the Gift Fair, which usually have a staggered Saturday and Sunday opening, will run from Saturday, 19 August through Wednesday, 23 August 2000, which is one week later than originally scheduled. The Passenger Ship Terminals Pier“s 92 and 94, which house the Gift Fair“s New & Distinctive Resources, Floral & Garden Accessories and At Home divisions during the summer market, are not available 12-19 August 2000, due to increased passenger ship traffic. Piers 92 and 94 double as exhibit space and a port of call during the summer and ship schedules dictate the use of Piers. As a result, GLM said it had to change the dates of the Fair. “As an international marketplace, it is important that GLM maintain the size and scope of the Gift Fair for retailers and exhibitors,” said Leslie Nathan-Street, vice president and show manager. “Utilizing Piers 92 and 94 for the Gift Fair, offers retailers and exhibitors a venue with which they are familiar. Since the date change was necessary, our hope is to create a cohesive market by opening all divisions on Saturday and minimize further confusion.”
