Gentex Corporation, the Michigan-based manufacturer of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors has won its first contract with a French automaker. Gentex is supplying its mirrors, which darken under the glare of headlights to prevent the driver being dazzled, to Peugeot, which will fit them as standard on the top trim option of the Peugeot 407, a model destined for markets in Europe, South America and Asia. “We opened an office in France a couple of years ago in order to begin working with the French manufacturers, and now this investment is beginning to pay off,” said Garth Deur, Gentex“s executive vice president. “Peugeot is the first French automaker to use a Gentex mirror, so this program opens the door to a whole new market.”
