Gemco Furnaces BV., the Dutch supplier of lehrs and furnaces for the glass and display industry, has had a change of ownership. As of January 2001 the existing management has acquired all the shares of the Gemco Industries group through a management buy out. This change is another step in the strategy of focusing fully on the thermal processing of glass products, following the acquisition of Smit-Sinus furnaces in 1997. The company name will remain unchanged and it will have the same location in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, also retaining all its employees. Gemco, which has a leading position in the display Industry (CRT, LCD, PDP), will concentrate on further expanding its market presence through innovative designs and customer satisfaction. With a record order backlog of 26 installations and a solid financial position, Gemco Furnaces intends to continue to expand its staff in order to meet the increasing demand for its products.
