2 April 1998: US-based Geltech Inc. has reportedly been awarded two contracts worth US$ 500,000 each by NASA and the Department of the Army STTR Program. The second Phase II contract from NASA involves cost-effective high-precision fabrication technology for the radiation-resistant advanced optical components programme, which offers a path to produce optical components that simultaneously circularize and collimate the light from a semiconductor laser. Another Phase II contract is for the project called “Optical Limiting Windows for Eye and Sensor Protection from laser Radiation”, which will develop passive protection from damage by intense laser pulses.
