The Glass Association of North America has organised two educational seminars for the glass industry, to be held at the O“Hare Hilton Hotel in Chicago, Illinois, US, from 8-10 April. The first seminar, “Glass Tempering”, will begin on the morning of 8 April and end at midday on 9 April, while the second, “Laminating”, will begin at 13.00 on 9 April and end on the evening of 10 April. According to the organisers, the seminars are designed for plant personnel as well as middle and upper management. The “Glass Tempering” seminar will cover such issues as system control, glass cutting technology, glass washing, screen printing, stress measurement, heat strengthening, ceramic rolls, glass standards, controlled forced convective heating systems, and low-E tempering. Companies providing speakers will include Solar Cells, Inc., The Fletcher-Terry Co., Billco Manufacturing, Cerdec Corp., Viracon, Stan Joehlin, Strainoptic Technologies, Inc., Vesuvius McDanel Co., HGP Industries, Inc., Glasstech, Tamglass. The “Laminating” seminar will look at issues related to washing, PVB interlayers, autoclaving, bullet resistant glass, bagging of laminated glass, resins, inspection, testing and standards. Companies providing speakers include some of the above-mentioned firms together with PPG, DuPont, Northwestern Industries, Monsanto, Airtech, Zircon, Glasslam, Morton, GE Plastics, Bent Glass Design. Registrations and room reservations for the seminars must be returned to the organisers no later than 14 March 1997.
