G-Tech Optoelectronics (GTOC), an affiliate of the Foxconn (Hon Hai) Group, has announced that it will establish a reinforced glass manufacturing plant at Foxconn“s production base in Shenzhen, southern China, to supply demand from Foxconn. G-Tech has invested USD 4.8 million in the plant, which is expected to have an initial monthly production capacity of 15 million units in the fourth quarter. G-Tech also said that it may expand its investment for the plant to double its capacity, depending on market demand at the end of year. Supply of cover glass and reinforced glass, usually added to the surface to protect the screen of products with frameless and touchscreen design,in fact, is expected to remain tight until the end of 2010.
