Chinese glass producer Fuyao Group Glass will invest CNY 2 billion (USD 242 million/EUR 196 million) to build a high-quality flat glass plant at Laocheng Development Zone, Chengmai county, on the tropical island province of Hainan. The plant will have four production lines and will manufacture 700,000 tonnes of high-quality glass per annum. The company chose to locate the plant in Hainan because of abundant local reserves of quartz sand. Fuyao is based in Fuqing, Fujian province, southeastern China. The company is China“s largest trader and exporter of car windscreen glass. Fuyao supplies auto glass to the plants of Chinese carmaker First Automotive Works (FAW), Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co, GM Shanghai, Guangzhou Honda and Hainan Mazda.
