Singapore“s biggest food and beverage concern, Fraser and Neave (F&N), said in mid-May that its net profit for the first half ended 31 March rose 7.1% to SGD 103.2 million due to higher revenue from its beverage business and better returns from its property operation. F&N, best known for its brewing and soft drinks businesses, expects performance for the current financial year to top last year“s. Growth was registered for the group“s core businesses in food and beverages and properties, but its printing and publishing business suffered from a drop in advertising. Meanwhile, F&N“s subsidiary Asia Pacific Breweries – the maker of Tiger beer – reported a 17.5% rise in interim net profit before exceptional items to SGD 51 million. As a group the company says China features strongly in the future of all aspects of its business. And good news for its shareholders – the company will pay an interim dividend of 15 cents per share after tax.
