Fiberlogix, a UK-based manufacturer of speciality fibres announced the availability of its high-performance photosensitive fibre, which is specifically designed to offer a very cost competitive solution to the FBG manufacturers. The two product lines launched are designed for Telecoms and Fibre Sensors markets. These exhibit a controlled photosensitivity and low background noise level. The company uses its proprietary manufacturing process and the state of the art production facility to offer uniform and enhanced sensitivity. These fibres offer the ability of directly writing of FBGs without the use of Hydrogen loading. Due to its superior core/cladding concentricity it allows a high lot-to-lot uniformity and low splice loss with standard telecom fibre. Fiberlogix plans to bring these photosensitive fibres with Acrylate UV transparent and high operating temperature coating, which can withstand up to 200C. FiberLogix is also scheduled to bring to market a number of other speciality fibres that will lead the industry price-performance matrix.
