FG Minerals LLC, a subsidiary of US glass producer Cardinal Corp., has been granted permission to mine sand in Menomonie, Wisconsin, US. The city council-issued permit will be in the name of Cardinal FG Minerals, while the mining will be carried out by Fairmont Minerals Ltd, which is headquartered in Chardon, Ohio. The mining site, which is expected to produce about 300-400,000 tonnes per annum, covers an area of approximately 47 hectares. Cardinal FG Co. is Cardinal“s float and tempered glass producing division.
