Almost 2,000 tonnes of glass, collected throughout the county of Truro, south-west England, by collection company Cornwall Cullet, have been shipped to Europe to be recycled, as a trial. The glass is normally sent to Yorkshire for recycling where it is turned back into bottles. If the pilot scheme is successful, glass will be transported out of Cornwall from the port on a regular basis, thus boosting trade in the city and cutting down on freight traffic on the roads.
