UK-based glass tempering systems, metallurgical furnaces and heat treatment ovens manufacturer EFCO, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum from the BMT Group by Solent Steel Engineering, the specialist manufacturer of furnaces for the microelectronics industry. The new business, to be known as EFCO Furnaces Limited, will continue to operate from its Weybridge headquarters and has retained key management personnel in design, manufacturing and marketing. Chairman of Solent Group, David Monks, expressing his pleasure at the acquisition said: “The EFCO name is recognized throughout the international glass processing and engineering markets as a leading manufacturer of specialized heat treatment furnaces and ovens. We aim to grow the business by combining this experience with Solent“s expertise in quality management and manufacturing.” One of the first initiatives of the new company is to launch “FurnaceCare“ – a new service, maintenance, refurbishment and equipment modernization programme aimed at improving machine performance, reducing running costs and minimizing down time. FurnaceCare programmes are tailored to each individual customer“s need and can include: regular inspection and service visits to maintain the efficiency of heat treatment equipment; refurbishment to improve the performance of aged or inefficient equipment; or modernization programmes to update equipment or ensure that it complies with the latest safety directives, by including the latest process technology.
