Ecovidrio, the not-for-profit organization that manages glass recycling in Spain recycled more than 15.3 tonnes of glass packaging, equivalent to 45,900 bottles at the International Food and Drink Exhibition Alimentaria 2008, held in Barcelona from 10 to 14 March. Ecovidrio said in press release on 18 March 2008 that this is the fifth consecutive edition at which it has carried out a campaign of collecting and recycling all the glass packaging consumed at the event. To achieve this, Ecovidrio created four recycling patrols, each composed of eight people who collected the glass container waste generated at stands and deposited it in the ten “igloos” distributed throughout the two halls of the fair.
