DuPont Photomasks Inc. a manufacturer of glass plates used in microchip production, will outsource pellicle production, leading to 96 job cuts and a related charge the company said on 8 July 2003. Pellicles ensure the image quality of a pattern projected on a semiconductor wafer. DuPont Photomasks said pellicle production would cease at a Danbury, Connecticut, factory by September 2003. The company“s global work force will be reduced by 5%, or 96 jobs. DuPont Photomasks will record after-tax charges in the first and 2Qs of fiscal 2004 totaling between USD 1.7 million and USD 2.2 million, net of proceeds of USD 1.7 million from the sale of certain pellicle assets and technology.
