Entries are invited for the 1997 DuPont Benedictus international architectural awards for projects using laminated glass. Architects are invited to submit their portfolios for specific completed projects, explaining why the design is unique or a contribution to the well-being of society, and how laminated glass is an integral part of the project. There is a student design category, and two categories for professional architects: residential and commercial. The winners in the residential and commercial categories will receive a glass sculpture by German artist Hans Godo Frabel. Their projects will also be published in international architectural and construction journals. The competition is open to both individuals and groups of individuals from one or more firms working on a single project. The 1997 jury will be formed of architects Hugh Newell Jacobsen (Washington, US), Patricia Patkau (Vancouver, Canada) and Christian de Portzamparc (Paris, France). The award programme is sponsored by DuPont, and is organised by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) in cooperation with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) with the support of the Union Internationale des Architectes (UIA). The entry deadline for the professional category is 3 March 1997. Further information can be obtained from Christine Bahar Hess at: ACSA, 1735 New York Avenue NW, Washington, DC, 20006, USA. Tel.
