Dow Corning“s vice president Jean-Marc Gilson announced that the company intends to focus on investing in the solar photovoltaic industry over the next five years with major interest in the Chinese market. Total investments will exceed USD 4 billion. Dow Corning runs its factories in the US producing polycrystalline silicon and monosilane and, at present, no factories have yet been built in China, but, Gilson said, the company is planning to establish a Chinese monosilane production base. At the 2008, China had become the world“s largest solar battery producer, even if 98% are exported, as per information from the Chinese Renewable Energy Society.
