US automotive supplier Donnelly Corporation announced on 11 March that Jim Brodie, 43, has been named vice president of manufacturing for Donnelly“s Global Automotive Systems. In his new position, Brodie has operational responsibility for the majority of Donnelly“s manufacturing facilities in Michigan as well as Donnelly de Mexico in Monterrey, Mexico, and Donnelly Euroglas Systems SARL in Langres, France. He is also responsible for global coordination and implementation of the Donnelly Production System (DPS), Donnelly“s customized system of lean manufacturing, which is based largely on principles of the Toyota Production System. Brodie will report to Russ Scaffede, senior vice president, Global Automotive Systems. Brodie joined Donnelly in 1985 as plant quality engineer for Donnelly“s Modular Window Systems Division and has held various positions in quality and engineering of increasing responsibility, with his most recent position being director of operations. Prior to his work at Donnelly, Brodie worked at Hoover Universal as a Quality Engineer. A native of Detroit, Brodie earned a bachelor“s degree in Chemical Engineering from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Brodie serves on the Board of Directors of Donnelly de Mexico, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Donnelly Corporation, as a member and an officer of the Board. Donnelly also announced that David DeMaagd, 45, has been named treasurer of the company in addition to his previous position as director of taxes. As treasurer, DeMaagd is responsible for cash, investments, foreign exchange and derivatives management, banking relationships, asset securitizations, corporate debt financing, leasing and pension trust investment management. He will report to Kevin Brown, senior vice president and chief financial officer. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, DeMaagd joined Donnelly“s accounting staff in 1984, after working as a CPA for Ernst & Young. During his career at Donnelly, DeMaagd has held a series of financial reporting, credit, tax and treasury management positions of increasing responsibility. DeMaagd received a bachelor“s degree in business/economics from Calvin College, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is a certified public accountant, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member and past president of the Western Michigan Chapter of Tax Executives Institute and Vice President, Finance and Facilities for Harderwyk Ministries.
