Danish windows manufacturer Velux, part of the VKR Group, has announced that it is planning to close down its subsidiary Gelsted Bygningindustri which employs 230 people. Rationel Vinduer, another member of the VKR Group, is also planning to reduce its 500-strong work force by 75. In August 2008, Velfact, also owned by VKR, announced that it may have to reduce staff. These reductions mean that there has been a 10% drop in staffing levels in the sector within the past month alone.
