Crystal Clear Window Works has been shortlisted for the National Recycling Awards 2010, which is to take place at the Hilton Hotel in London on 15 July 2010. “This year the National Recycling Awards saw entries excel both in quality and quantity, with the competition fiercer than ever. The judges had a tough task deciding the finalists with so many organizations now demonstrating outstanding innovation and commitment to waste management and recycling, said the organizers of the Award. Prior to the introduction of the Crystal Clear processes, the only option for failed double-glazed IGUs was to replace them. Figures quoted by the Environment Agency are of 6.5 million domestic units being replaced each year, causing the scrapping of over 700,000 tons of mostly sound glass, 500,000 tons of which ends up in landfill. Now, thanks to Crystal Clear, the units can now be simply repaired in situ, thus saving over 350,000 tons of CO2 being generated in the processes of remaking and distributing the glass for replacement units. (Figures prepared independently by Wolverhampton University.) Further benefits of the Crystal Clear processes include: o financial savings – approximately 50% of replacement costs; o a 20-year insurance backed guarantee for consumer protection, compared with guarantees for replacement units on average five years and not insurance backed; o can be carried out from either the inside or outside of the property and thus with minimum disruption to tenants, as well as ease of working; o no problems of health and safety associated with working at height, no need to transport heavy replacement units; o “first time fix“ as there is no need to go out and measure unit for replacement on first visit and then return with the unit some time later and hopefully correct size, spacer bar type, colour match etc.); o growing network of dealers across the UK with fully trained and certified technicians for consistency of result for national organizations.
