Crimean soda plant (Krasnoperekopsk, Crimea), the largest producer of soda ash in the Ukraine, is to invest UAH 75 million in soda ash production in 2005. According to a company statement, UAH 34.5 million of the investments are direct investments by German RSJ. The investments will make it possible to complete the basic reconstruction and upgrading of production capacities. The repairs will enable the plant to increase soda ash production in 2006 to 800,000-820,000 tons a year. The Crimean soda plant ended 2004 with net profits of UAH 56.462 million, having increased production by 13.3% to 638,000 tons including A brand soda by 16% or 43,000 tons to 312,000 tons. In the 1Q of 2006, the enterprise plans to launch production of A brand soda with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons.
