The Crimean soda plant (Krasnoperekopsk) is looking at switching its energy supply for soda ash production from natural gas to coal-water slurry, according to a statement by the press service of OstChem Ukraine (Kyiv). The possible move is a response to rising natural gas prices; if confirmed, the plant will start a gradual changeover to use of coal-water slurry in 2008-2009.
