Corning Incorporated announced 11 May 2004 that the Environmental Management System (EMS) at its Wilmington, N.C. fiber manufacturing facility has been certified as conforming to the International Standard ISO 14001, the world“s most recognized EMS framework. ISO14001 helps organizations manage the impact of their activities on the environment and demonstrate sound environmental management. “Through receipt of this certification, we continue to demonstrate our strong commitment to ongoing improvement in our environmental management systems,” said Tom Nettleman, division vice president and plant manager, Corning Optical Fiber. “Receiving the ISO 14001 certification is recognition by the industry that we hold ourselves to the highest standards of excellence in environmental management.”
