US glass maker Corning recently announced its plan to delay the fourth phase of expansion for its Taichung, Taiwan facility, which opened in 2006 and produces LCD glass substrates, until year-end 2010, the Commercial Times of Taiwan reported on 9 October 2008, adding that the production expansion plan will also be postponed. In addition, the company also plans to perform tank maintenance in the 4Q 2008. Production on its lines located at the same premises will likely be suspended at the start of 2009. According to the same source, Corning also decided to lower its capital spending outlook for 2008-2009 by approximately USD 400-600 million.
