Corning Inc., which makes substrates for LCD glass used in flat-panel TV sets, said 8 January 2007 it still expects 4Q 2006 results to fall within its prior guidance. The company, which also backed its forecast for the period in December 2006, projects earnings of USD 0.26 cents to USD 0.29 per share, before items, on sales between USD 1.28 billion and USD 1.33 billion. Analysts, on average, are expecting earnings of USD 0.28 per share on sales of USD 1.31 billion, according to a poll by Thomson Financial. The company updated investors on its growth areas, including its telecommunications, diesel and display businesses at the 9th Annual Needham and Company Growth Conference in New York on 9 January 2006.
