Corning Inc. and Photronics Inc. have agreed to a two-year agreement to jointly develop new photoblanks that will allow semiconductor companies to make faster chips. In a recent press release, Corning said photoblanks are the glass foundation of photomasks used by semiconductor makers to etch integrated circuits onto silicon wafers. Photronics makes photoblanks, while Corning makes optical fibre, cable and photonic products.
