22 January 1998: Consumer Glass recently installed predictive-adaptive controllers replacing their proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers. As a result, the new system cuts the time needed to stabilise production succeeding a product change by over 50%, said the company. Predictive-adaptive control decreases temperature variations at the furnace throat, improves production quality and cuts down on energy rates.
