18 March 1999: CMS Spa has announced the acquisition of Tecnometal of Montelabbate, (Central East Italy) which operates in the production of numerically controlled work centres in the glass, marble and granite manufacturing sectors. The acquisition by CMS, based near Bergamo in Northern Italy, is part of the group“s overrall and ongoing growth strategy, the company said. The firm is an international producer of numerically controlled work centres for non-ferrous materials. With the acquisition of Tecnometal, CMS said it believes to have reached its objective of growth by adding the already well established Tecnometal range to its own range of machines for the manufacture of glass, marble and granite. Tecnometal has been operational for more than fifteen years, and its annual turnover is around ItL 8 million. With the acquisition of Tecnometal, CMS said it is confident that group sales will now reach more than ItL 150 billion. On a practical level, the planned production and technical development of Tecnometal will be carried out in its current headquarters with the organizational and technical assistance of CMS, where Oscar Piersanti will remain managing director.
