10 September 1998: Brazilian glass containers producer Cisper, controlled by Owens Illinois of the US, will transfer its headquarters from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo in order to trim expenditures, according to a recent press report. The report said that the company will also invest US$ 5 million until June 1999, to install the J.D. Edwards software. Owens Illinois will install the same software in Colombia and Venezuela as well. Cisper invested US$ 50″Worldwide, Sainte French Saint-million last year to develop its quality and cut costs of the Sao Paulo-based facilities. The company posted a pre-tax profit of R$ 11.25 million last year. It forecasts a US$ 300 million turnover for 1998. It holds nearly 45% of the domestic glass containers market, and produced 320,000 tonnes and recycled 140,000 tonnes of glass last year.
