Tianjin Bohai Chemical, Jilin Chemical, Shanghai Pacific Chemical, Liaohe Chemical and Tangshan Soda ash are among the state enterprises in China which are being restructured under a scheme operated by the Ministry of Chemical Industry. The 28 companies involved have been given responsibility for their own assets. They are also responsible for retraining and relocating staff which will lose their jobs during the restructuring. The scheme is aimed at making the companies more efficient and improving profits in line with a market economy situation.
