Chinese color kinescope and glass shell manufacturer Shenzhen Seg Samsung Glass Co., Ltd. announced a 5% recovery in the average price of glass shells on 19 October 2007. With a production capacity of about 18 million to 20 million sets, the company has become the largest glass shell supplier in China. A reshuffle in the domestic CRT industry appears to lie behind the rise; Shanghai Asahi Electronic Glass Co., Ltd. ceased glass shell production of 6 million sets a year in September 2007 while Henan Anyang Color Kinescope and Glass Shell Co., Ltd. also cut its glass shell production by 50% or 15 million sets. China is expected to sell 29 million CRT TVs in 2007, a 100% increase year-on-year in the thin CRT segment.
