A soda ash production facility with a designed capacity of 600,000 tons started production on 18 April 2004 in Weifang City, (Shandong Province, east coast of China). The CNY 785 million facility (USD 1= CNY 8.2770), is located in Weifang Ocean Chemical High & New Tech Industries Development Zone. The facility is an initiative of Shandong Ocean Chemical Import and Export Co., Ltd. (Ocean Chemical), a chemical product supplier. Ocean Chemical will export 70% of the output of quality dense soda ash. After completion, it will add CNY 600 million to Ocean Chemical“s annual sales revenues. By the end of 2004, the soda ash production capacity of Ocean Chemical will reach 2 million tons.
