China produced an aggregate 1.08 million tons of glass fiber yarn from January to June 2008, up 44.5% year-on-year, but this positive performance was heavily affected by the global financial crisis in the 2H. Glass fiber yarn export growth slowed down after August 2008, and some Chinese manufacturers had to cut back or suspend production for the sake of stable supply and demand. In November 2008, total Chinese glass fiber yarn output rose 36.5% on a year earlier, but growth was 14 percentage points lower than in the previous year. In the first eleven months of 2008, China produced 2.15 million tons of glass fiber yarn, up 45.8% year-on-year, and total output for all of 2008 was predicted to jump 43% to 2.3 million tons.
