CertainTeed Corporation is taking its commitment to sustainability to the next level through a third-party audit of its unfaced batts and rolls, Sustainable Insulation and Northern White blowing fibreglass insulation. The products, which are manufactured at the company“s Ottawa and Redcliff plants, have a minimum of 67-70% recycled content – the highest recycled content for fibreglass insulation products in the Canadian market. Sustainable Solutions Inc., an independent sustainability-consulting firm, conducted the audit through its GreenCircle certification system, which includes a review of the manufacturing process, renewable energy use, and product specifications. GreenCircle certification assures building professionals that CertainTeed insulation products offer the highest level of sustainability, says Paul Valle, president of CertainTeed Insulation. Different from other products on the Canadian market, CertainTeed has based its calculations on the recycled content of the entire product and guarantees a minimum recycled content, not an average. CertainTeed offers a full line of energy efficient fibreglass insulation in Canada, including a variety of fibreglass batts and blankets, blowing insulation and HVAC products as well as MemBrain, a revolutionary smart vapour and air barrier film. All CertainTeed building insulation products manufactured in Canada, including the new Sustainable Insulation line, contain at least 67% recycled content.
