At the 2010 International Builders“ Show in Las Vegas, US, CertainTeed will have on show some of its new products, including EnerGen, a photovoltaic roofing panel for residential applications, and its new fiberglass insulation product Sustainable Insulation. This latter product meets, says the company, the strictest California Indoor Air Quality Requirements, and incorporates recycled materials, a bio-based organic binder, and a low impact manufacturing process. CertainTeed“s EnerGen system features integrated UNI-SOLAR thin-film photovoltaic laminates that integrate seamlessly with traditional asphalt roofing shingles, providing utility savings for homeowners, creating clean, renewable energy. Also at the show, CertainTeed will be demonstrating how solar reflective and photovoltaic technologies work in tandem to create a high performance, visually appealing roof with its Landmark Solaris solar reflective roofing shingles. “EnerGen is the first step in what we hope will be a comprehensive portfolio of photovoltaic roofing products for residential and commercial applications,” says Guillaume Texier, president of CertainTeed Roofing. “EnerGen will give homeowners the ability to generate solar power for a home without sacrificing aesthetic appeal.” CertainTeed is also introducing Sustainable Insulation, which includes fiberglass insulation with a new proprietary, organic binder, and which consists of a recycled glass content of 35%. CertainTeed is a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain, and was named ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2009. The group had total sales of approximately USD 3 billion in 2009.
