Central Glass Co. has announced that it expects to break even in its group operating result for the July-September quarter, with growing demand for automotive glass being cancelled out by falling production of urethane. The company“s operating profit for the April-June quarter was JPY 1.8 billion. If it does break even in the current quarter, then operating profit for the six months ending 30 September 2009 will come to JPY 1.8 billion a decrease of 55% compared to a year earlier. Sales are seen to drop 25% from the same period in 2008 to JPY 38 billion or so this quarter. Sales are also decreasing 26% to JPY 74 billion for the six months through September, less than the scheduled figure of JPY 78 billion.
