Japan“s Central Glass has said it will resume dividends for the first time since 1992 with a Yen 3 payment for the year ended in March. Sales of glass for the Japanese construction market rose sharply with the rush to buy homes before a tax increase took effect in April. The company also reported Yen 5.3 billion in stock valuation losses on its US subsidiary in the previous year, causing a final deficit of Yen 676 million, which improved significantly to a Yen 2.2 billion profit. Sales were up 4% to Yen 151 billion, with construction glass and automobile glass both up 2% as increased volume made up for drops in unit prices.
