Carl Zeiss Hungaria Kft supplied thirty state-of-the-art field glasses for the Hungarian KFOR units recently sent to Kosovo. The order was obtained via a Defence Ministry tender. Ferenc Kujbus Carl Zeiss Hungaria Optikai Kft commercial director said that the order would hopefully be a good reference in the future and added that the border guards could make the best use of the special equipment. Carl Zeiss Hungaria Kft“s mother company intends to conquer the former markets of Magyar Optikai Muvek (MOM). In 1991, Zeiss acquired MOM“s Mateszalka (Eastern Hungary) factory. Since then the number of the employees increased to 950 from the original 300. Two thirds of a Ft 1.4 billion investment has already been completed, and quite a few new products are made in the modern production halls built in the place of the former spectacles lens factory. Carl Zeiss Hungaria Kft“s equity was increased by Ft 54 million to Ft 1.6 billion recently. The aim of the equity raise is to provide sources for the investments. The company expects a Ft 4.4 billion turnover and a Ft 3.35 billion export figure in 1999. The next year turnover target is Ft 7.1 billion.
