Carglass, the UK autoglass repair and replacement company, has expanded its retail network in Italy to more than 100 operational centres from 54 in the first months of 2004. Carglass has achieved the expansion through the acquisition of repair centers from Italian glass repair and replacement company Glass Point. Currently, Carglass operates more than 1,000 centres in 27 countries, of which 700 are in Europe. The company employs 9,000. Carglass and Autoglass are subsidiaries of UK Belron, the world leader in autoglass repair and replacement. Belron is majority owned by Belgian automotive glass company Dicobel, which is 70%-owned by Belgian car importer and retailer D“Ieteren and 30%-owned by Belgian investment company Compagnie Benelux Paribas.
