11 December 1997: American and Swedish carmakers are reportedly interested in a new mirror developed by a part-time inventor from Hong Kong, Mr. So Fuk-sang. Mr. So won a gold medal for the mirror at the Nuremberg International Invention Exhibition in Germany. Together with his brother Su Li, who lives in Sweden, Mr. So spent US$ 3 million perfecting the design and patenting it in 26 countries. The mirrors are placed inside the vehicle on the dashboard. Part of the mirror sticks outside the car, but protrudes less than conventional mirrors and is aerodynamic, thus saving on petrol costs. Their inventor claims that they are unaffected by mist, snow or rain, double the angle of vision and remove blind spots.
