The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) recalled the 750 ml-size bottle of Old Monk Rum from India on 27 November 2007 and suspended sales of the product after detecting glass particles in some bottles. “In the interest of customer safety, we recalled this product immediately after our quality assurance staff confirmed the presence of glass particles in some bottles”, said Dr. George Soleas, vice president, LCBO Quality Assurance. The problem appears to be related to the bottling process. Customers returning bottles of the product to the LCBO will receive a full refund.
