Following a period of crisis, Italian crystalware maker Calp reported a 49% increase in turnover for July 2007 compared to the same month in 2006. At the end of August 2007, the order book was 57% higher year-on-year. New management in place since 1 July 2007 has begun a plan to turn the company round and relaunch it with lower costs (to be achieved partly through lay-offs) and the start-up of new product lines such as “superior sonorous glass”. Calp makes 80% of Italian crystal.
