Italian glassmaker Calp recently reported a 25% drop in net earnings for the year ended 31 December 2000, to ItL 11 billion. Sales decreased 10% to ItL 170 billion due to production slowdowns connected with the completion of an investment programme, which concentrated on the installation of a new, very large furnace for the production of lead crystal, as well as a feeding line. A dividend of ItL 300 per share was declared.
