Redundancy is continuing at Rcr Cristalleria Italiana (CALP) Colle Valdelsa, one of the most important companies of the hollow glass and crystal sectors in Italy, and which has been undergoing difficulties for some time now. The company announced, during a meeting with the unions, new redundancies for a period of 12 months, which will involve about 230 employees. Between 1 July 2007 and 30 June 2009, 200 people of the company based in the area of Siena, have been given redundancy notices. In a communication, company union representatives said they were quite worried and were hoping to have a meeting as soon as possible with company management to find possible solutions able to guarantee a future to the workers, maintaining the present work figures of which the Area of Siena and Valdelsano need, above all in this period of economic crisis.
