7 October 1998: Italy“s crystal manufacturer Cristalleria Artistica La Piana (Calp) saw net profits fall 4.39% in the first half of the year to ItL 6.93 billion, a recent press report said. Turnover declined 4.35% to ItL 74.12 billion. The consolidated turnover was ItL 82.1 billion (+2.3%) and the profit was ItL 7.1 billion. The board reported that the situation was influenced by slower growth on international markets, partly as a result of the crisis in South East Asia.
