Brazilian sales of flat glass are expected to increase 6% in 2006, reaching 1.15 million tons, according to Wilson Farhat, president of Andiv, the national flat glass distributors and processors association. Flat glass in Brazil is used mainly in the construction, furniture and automotive industries. The Brazilian market has seen constant growth above the global market average of 4%, said Farhat. Between 60 and 70% of the total revenues in Brazil come from civil construction, 20% from the automotive sector and 20% from furniture and household appliances. Exports represent 12% of national production, which is 1.2 million tons per annum.
