Bor Glass Works, Nizhny Novgorod region, a major Russian producer of glass for the automotive and construction industries, has concluded the reconstruction of its first line for the production of polished glass, with a cost of US$ 30 million. During modernization, which began in February 2002, a new glass-furnace was built and equipment for glass cutting, made by German Grenzenbach, was set up. The company financed the reconstruction with its own money and investments made by Belgian Glaverbel, which holds 36.4% of the factory. As a result, the overhaul has boosted production capacity from 500 to 700 tonnes of glass per day, also improving product quality.
