According to financial director Jiri Klima, Bohemia Crystalex Trading (BCT), an exclusive exporter for Crystalex, the leading Czech producer of household utility glass, will this year export goods worth Kc 1.4 billion. In the first three quarters of this year, foreign customers bought glass worth Kc 934 million from BCT. “Having completed the privatisation of Crystalex has raised the trust of our customers,” Klima said. As part of the privatisation process, the Porcela Plus chinaware manufacturer, holding a majority stake in Crystalex, acquired a majority in BCT, he added. BCT exports glass mainly to Japan, Canada, Spain, the United States, Germany and Britain. “We have also gained new large orders in Australia and New Zealand,” Klima said. BCT was established by Crystalex and Sklo Bohemia Svetla nad Sazavou after both glassmakers decided to stop exporting their goods through the Skloexport trading company. Skloexport then seized control of Sklo Bohemia, however, leaving Crystalex as the only partner in BCT.
